Adjectives are the fastest way to make your Arabic more expressive. In Arabic an adjective follows the noun it describes and agrees with it in gender. Tap any adjective above to hear it.
Gender agreement
Most masculine adjectives form the feminine by adding ة:
| Masculine | Transliteration | Feminine | Transliteration | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| كبير | kabeer | كبيرة | kabeera | big |
| جديد | jadeed | جديدة | jadeeda | new |
| جميل | jameel | جميلة | jameela | beautiful |
| سعيد | sa3eed | سعيدة | sa3eeda | happy |
Some adjectives ending in ي stay the same, and a few (like أحمر) follow the color pattern.
